Donald Trump’s 48-hour deadline over the Strait of Hormuz has been openly defied by Iran, further escalating tensions in West Asia. Despite the warning to reopen the crucial maritime route within the stipulated time or face attacks on its power infrastructure, Iran showed no signs of backing down, signaling a sharp escalation in the standoff.
In a provocative move, Iran claimed it had shot down an enemy F-15 fighter jet over Hormuz Island. A video of the alleged strike was released by the Tehran Times on its social media platform, showing visuals of Iranian forces detecting and destroying the aircraft. However, Tehran did not clarify whether the jet belonged to the United States or Israel, and there has been no official confirmation from either country.

Earlier, Trump had issued a stern warning that if Iran failed to restore operations in the Strait of Hormuz, which it had reportedly blocked, the US would target key Iranian power plants. He stated that strikes would begin with the country’s largest electricity facility and reiterated the warning through a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Meanwhile, tensions between Iran and Israel continue to intensify, with both sides engaging in retaliatory strikes. Iran reportedly targeted Israel’s Dimona nuclear research facility, citing suspicions over nuclear activity in the region. The International Atomic Energy Agency reported a rise in radiation levels following the attack, raising global concerns.
In response, the Israel Defense Forces warned that Iran would face serious consequences and launched strikes on Tehran, targeting military installations. The ongoing exchange of attacks has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, with global powers closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation.
