Tel Aviv/Tehran: Tensions between Israel and Iran escalated again despite an announced ceasefire, with both nations accusing each other of renewed attacks. Israel alleged that Iran violated the truce by launching missile strikes at three different locations, prompting retaliatory airstrikes on Iranian radar facilities.

In a statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, officials confirmed that the country responded after Iran’s alleged provocations. “Following the ceasefire, Iran launched missile attacks at three sites inside Israel. In response, we targeted radar systems in Iran,” the statement read.

The Israeli government also confirmed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had spoken with former U.S. President Donald Trump before deciding to de-escalate further strikes. “President Trump commended Israel for achieving its military objectives and expressed hope that the ceasefire would hold,” the statement noted.

Iran, however, rejected the Israeli claims and accused Israel of initiating the renewed conflict. Tehran denied launching any attacks post-ceasefire and criticized the Israeli strikes as unprovoked.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed that the United States is not seeking regime change in Iran, citing potential chaos that such a move could unleash. “We’re not looking for a change in government. That could lead to dangerous instability,” Trump told reporters before departing for the NATO summit in The Hague. He also reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons and confirmed discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the issue.

The renewed hostilities have raised concerns about the durability of the ceasefire and the broader implications for regional security.
