Iran Demands Rights, Reparations, and Guarantees Before Ending War

Tensions in West Asia remain high as the United States and Israel carry out strikes on Iran, while Iran has retaliated against American installations across Gulf countries. In a significant development, Iran announced that it is ready to end the ongoing conflict but has attached three key conditions. The announcement was made by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on X (formerly Twitter).

“Iran is committed to establishing peace in West Asia. I have communicated the same to leaders of Pakistan and Russia. To end this war initiated by the United States, three conditions must be met: recognition of Iran’s legal rights, payment of reparations, and international guarantees against future aggression,” Pezeshkian stated. Meanwhile, Iran issued warnings as global nations hesitated to pay $200 per barrel, while the International Energy Agency (IEA) recommended releasing strategic reserves to address a severe oil shortage not seen since 1970. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran has already disrupted global oil supplies.

Iran has also targeted vessels transiting the strategic Strait of Hormuz, laying naval mines that could affect ships from U.S. allied countries. However, the Iranian government clarified that Indian naval vessels would not face any obstruction. This came after high-level talks between India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The announcement of Iran’s readiness to end the war has drawn attention, but the response of the U.S. and Israel to Iran’s conditions remains uncertain.

Meanwhile,  U.S. President Donald Trump had set several conditions for Iran, including the complete dismantling of its nuclear program and destruction of ballistic missile stockpiles capable of reaching the U.S. or Israel. He also demanded regime change to ensure that Iranian citizens control their government and warned that any interference in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would be met with attacks twenty times stronger than previous responses. Trump also called for lifting restrictions on the Strait to secure global oil supply.

While Iran insists it is willing to negotiate peace if its three conditions are met, neither the United States nor Israel has formally responded. The geopolitical standoff continues, with uncertainty over whether Iran’s peace conditions will be accepted and whether the region can avoid further escalation. The world remains on high alert as diplomatic and military developments unfold in West Asia.
