Between December 3 and 5, IndiGo faced widespread flight cancellations and delays, causing significant inconvenience to passengers across India. Travelers were stranded at airports, experiencing long waits and disruptions. In response, the airline announced compensation in the form of travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 each, valid nationwide for the next 12 months. Details regarding the selection of eligible passengers have not been disclosed. On one of the peak days, as many as 1,950 services were impacted.

IndiGo has now largely restored its operations, running flights at full capacity. Today, the airline is operating 1,950 flights, carrying over 3 lakh passengers and connecting 138 destinations across its network. The company stated that cancellations are now limited to unavoidable factors such as weather conditions, technical issues, and air traffic control constraints.
The airline attributed the disruptions to several factors while briefing the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA). Implementation of the DGCA’s new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations, which increase mandatory rest periods for pilots and crew, created challenges in roster management. Additionally, minor technical problems, adverse winter weather including dense fog in multiple regions, and adjustments required for the winter schedule further affected operations. Increased traffic and operational pressure at airports also contributed to the disruptions.
