The West Midlands Police have released CCTV footage of the suspect and launched a massive manhunt to apprehend him.
The case surfaced when police received reports of a young woman sitting in the middle of a street, visibly distressed and traumatized, following the assault in the Park Hall locality of Walsall. Responding swiftly, officers reached the spot and began an investigation, collecting crucial evidence and surveillance footage. Detective Superintendent Ronan Tyrer described it as “a deeply disturbing and violent assault” and assured that every possible resource is being deployed to identify and arrest the perpetrator. He appealed to the public to come forward with any relevant information, including dashcam or CCTV footage, that could aid the investigation.
Police have described the suspect as a white male in his 30s, with short hair and dressed in black at the time of the attack. Although officials have not disclosed the victim’s identity, local Punjabi community organizations have confirmed that she hails from Punjab, India. The incident has reignited concerns over racially motivated violence in the region, especially following a similar case reported just a month ago in the nearby Oldbury area, where a Sikh woman was allegedly targeted. The Sikh Federation UK strongly condemned the latest attack, calling it the second such hate crime within two months and demanding swift justice.
Walsall Police Chief Superintendent Phil Dolby acknowledged the growing anxiety among residents and pledged to strengthen police presence in the affected neighborhoods. “We understand the fear this attack has caused within the community. Our officers are engaging directly with residents to listen to their concerns and ensure safety,” he stated. Local leaders have also urged the government to take stronger measures against racial discrimination and to ensure that victims of such crimes receive justice and protection.
