The Government of India has issued an urgent advisory to all Indian nationals in Iran amid rising tensions in West Asia. With security threats escalating in the region, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has urged Indians to leave the country immediately using any available means of transport, including commercial flights. The advisory targets students, tourists, businesspersons, and travelers currently in Iran.
The MEA statement follows up on a previous warning issued in January, reflecting the rapidly changing situation. To assist Indian citizens, the Embassy of India in Tehran has made helpline numbers available: +98 9128109115, +98 9128109109, +98 9128109102, and +98 9932179359. Thousands of Indian nationals are currently in Iran, and the central government is conducting continuous high-level reviews to ensure their safety.

Citizens have been advised to avoid areas of protests or large demonstrations, keep passports and ID documents ready, and register with the Embassy through the online portal if they have not already done so. Family members in India can assist with the registration process if connectivity issues arise. Indians are also urged to monitor local news and remain in regular contact with Embassy officials.
The advisory comes amid heightened tensions following stalled U.S.-Iran nuclear deal discussions and a large-scale U.S. military deployment in the region. U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that failure in talks could trigger military action, while internal protests within Iran have also intensified, raising concerns about safety for foreign nationals.
