Amaravati: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh alert for Andhra Pradesh, forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall over the next three days due to a low-pressure area formed over the north Bay of Bengal. The system is expected to intensify within 24 hours and move in a west-northwest direction towards the coasts of West Bengal and north Odisha. As a result, several districts in the state are likely to experience rains accompanied by gusty winds, lightning, and thunder, prompting the AP State Disaster Management Authority to urge public caution.
According to the forecast, districts including Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Srikakulam, and Vizianagaram are likely to witness heavy rainfall today. Additionally, moderate to heavy showers are expected in East and West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, and Konaseema districts. The rest of the state may experience light to moderate rain, officials said, urging residents to stay alert in view of possible disruptions.
