The Charlapalli Railway Terminal is set to be inaugurated soon, with Union Minister Kishan Reddy visiting the site on Sunday to assess the final preparations. During his visit, Kishan Reddy made several key announcements, including the upcoming launch of the Metro Rail Transit System (MRTS) connecting Hyderabad to Yadadri.

Reddy emphasized that the Charlapalli Railway Station has been constructed using state-of-the-art technology, noting that Telangana has faced inequities in railway development since India’s independence. He reassured attendees that the central government is focused on enhancing railway infrastructure in the region.

Construction Nears Completion

The minister highlighted that the Charlapalli Railway Station will be the fourth new railway station in Hyderabad, complementing existing stations in Secunderabad, Nampally, and Kachiguda. He stated that this addition is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the city. Kishan Reddy reported that the station’s construction has progressed rapidly, with 98% of the work completed, and the total expenditure reaching Rs 430 crore. The facility will feature modern amenities, including escalators and lifts designed for elderly and differently-abled passengers.

Road Connectivity Recommendations

Kishan  urged the state government to improve road connectivity from the Charlapalli Railway Station, specifically requesting the construction of 80-foot roads toward Bharat Nagar and Mahalaxmi Nagar. He called for immediate action on these road projects, mentioning that a master plan has already been prepared for their implementation. “Full road connectivity is essential for maximizing the utility of the station,” he stated.

In addition, Kishan Reddy reminded the audience of Prime Minister Modi’s introduction of the Railway Kavach system in Telangana to enhance safety and prevent railway accidents. He noted that the state currently has the highest number of Vande Bharat trains after Delhi and announced plans to incorporate sleeper coaches in these trains shortly.

Under the Amrit scheme, Kishan Reddy confirmed that 40 railway stations are undergoing development across Telangana. This includes allocations of Rs 715 crore for the Secunderabad Railway Station, Rs 429 crore for the Nampally Railway Station, and Rs 430 crore for the Charlapalli Railway Station. Additionally, he announced the establishment of a rail manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 521 crore.
