Hyderabad: A Hyderabad native pursuing higher education in the United States, Sreeja Varma, tragically died in a road accident. Sreeja, the elder daughter of Srinivas Varma and Hemalatha from Ramarkula village in Siddipet district, had recently completed her Master’s degree in the US. The family had relocated to Hyderabad several years ago and currently resides in Medchal district’s Srikrishnanagar area.

According to police reports, Sreeja left her apartment on Monday night to dine at a nearby restaurant. While returning, her vehicle was struck by a truck, resulting in fatal injuries. Two other passengers, including a friend, were also in the car at the time of the accident. The deputy manager, who sustained a gunshot injury during the robbery, is reported to be in stable condition. Srinivas Varma’s younger daughter, Shreya, left for the US 20 days ago to pursue her Master’s studies. Local authorities are investigating the incident, and arrangements are underway to repatriate Sreeja’s remains to India. The family in Hyderabad is mourning her sudden demise.

In a separate incident on July 7 in Georgia, an entire Hyderabad family died in a devastating road accident. Srivenkat Bejugam, his wife Tejaswini, and their children Siddharth and Mridha were returning from relatives’ home in Atlanta to Dallas when their car collided with a truck near Green County, catching fire and resulting in their deaths. The family had migrated from Kompally, Hyderabad, to Dallas three years ago.

Both incidents have caused deep sorrow among the Hyderabad community, highlighting concerns over road safety for NRIs abroad.
