Hyderabad: In view of the upcoming Ganesh immersion, Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities have announced an extension of metro services on September 17. Metro services will run until 1 AM on September 18 to accommodate the increased demand during the immersion day.
HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy stated that the metro trains will be operational on all lines till 1 AM, and passengers will be able to reach their destinations by 2 AM. Security arrangements will be in place at key stations such as Khairatabad and Lakdikapul to ensure smooth operations.
Reddy further added that depending on the crowd, additional trains with higher frequency will be operated, and extra ticket counters have been set up at selected stations to handle the increased footfall. Metro ridership has witnessed a significant rise over the past two weeks, with around 500,000 passengers using the service daily. On Saturday alone, Khairatabad metro station saw nearly 94,000 commuters.
Passengers are advised to maintain discipline during travel and take advantage of the extended services.
