Hollywood: Renowned actress Emma Thompson recently shared a surprising anecdote during the Locarno Film Festival. She revealed that on the very day she finalized her divorce in 1998, then-businessman Donald Trump called her and invited her on a date. At the time, Thompson was shooting the film Primary Colors.
In an interview, Thompson recalled the phone conversation where she initially told the caller she was speaking to Donald Trump, which he thought was a joke. Trump then asked how he could help her, before saying, “I want you to come on a date with me. We can have dinner together.” Thompson responded politely, “That’s very kind, thank you. I’ll call you back,” and ended the call. She noted that Trump was also divorcing his second wife Marla Maples around the same time and speculated he was looking for a suitable partner. She jokingly added that if she had accepted the date, she might have changed American history.
