Hyderabad: Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna stirred a political debate in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly with strong remarks targeting former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Balakrishna accused the previous government of causing significant challenges for the film industry, referring to Jagan as a “psychopath,” and questioned the handling of industry-related matters during his tenure.
The outburst came after BJP MLA Kamineni Srinivas recounted an incident from the previous YSRCP administration. Srinivas stated that leading film personalities, including Chiranjeevi, Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, and S.S. Rajamouli, had met the former CM to discuss issues such as ticket pricing and industry concerns. According to Srinivas, Jagan initially directed them to meet the Minister of Cinematography instead, and the meeting only took place after Chiranjeevi intervened.

Balakrishna reacted sharply to these claims, calling them inaccurate and asserting that no one could have spoken so assertively at the time. He urged that facts should be verified before making statements and expressed his dissatisfaction with Janasena minister Kandula Durgesh over his placement as the ninth member of the Film Development Committee.
The MLA’s remarks have generated considerable attention in political circles, highlighting ongoing debates over both past and current government policies affecting the film industry.
