Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has appointed retired Justice Naveen Rao to oversee the functioning of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) in light of serious allegations of financial irregularities. The court directed that no action be taken by HCA without prior approval from Justice Rao.
The order was passed while hearing a petition filed by Safilguda Cricket Club, which sought a CBI probe into irregularities in the HCA dating back to 2007. The petitioners also objected to the continuation of the 87th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on July 19, alleging it was conducted without issuing the mandatory 10-day notice. The club has named the CBI, BCCI, and HCA as respondents in the case.
In connection with the alleged scam, HCA president Jagan Mohan Rao has already been arrested, followed by the recent arrest of General Secretary Devaraj. The High Court will conduct a comprehensive hearing on the matter this coming Monday.
