High Court Adjourns Hearing in Kaleshwara Project Corruption Case

A hearing was held today in the High Court concerning a petition filed by social activist Rajalingamurthy from Bhupalapalli, who was allegedly murdered, alleging massive corruption in the construction of the Kaleshwara project. The private petition, which accused former Chief Minister KCR, former Minister Harish Rao, contractor Megha Krishna Reddy, and several others of involvement in corrupt practices, had prompted the Bhupalapalli Court to issue notices for their personal appearance on July 10, 2024.

In response, KCR and Harish Rao have challenged the Bhupalapalli Court’s orders in the High Court, arguing that the lower court’s directives should be quashed. Their legal counsel contended that, since the complainant Rajalingamurthy has since passed away—reports have even described his death as murder—the orders should be set aside. The counsel further argued that, with Rajalingamurthy’s demise, the case might no longer be eligible for further inquiry. However, the petitioners maintained that despite his death, the case could continue based on the available evidence, citing previous Supreme Court rulings on similar matters, and requested additional time to present further details.

The High Court, taking note of these submissions, adjourned the next hearing to Monday.
