BRS key leader and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao has welcomed the Telangana High Court’s recent ruling affirming the disqualification of MLAs who switch parties. Harish Rao described the court’s decision as a significant setback for the Congress party and affirmed that it aligns with democratic principles.
Harish Rao emphasized that the High Court’s ruling serves as a reprimand to Congress’s undemocratic practices, praising it for reinforcing democratic values and constitutional integrity. He noted that the disqualification of these MLAs is likely to result in by-elections in their constituencies, where the BRS is expected to secure victories.
He also expressed hope that the Speaker will act in accordance with the court’s decision within the next four weeks to uphold democratic processes.
