Former BRS Minister and MLA Harish Rao launched a scathing critique against the Congress government. He stated that sexual assaults have become a daily occurrence in Telangana, citing a particularly severe case where an SI attempted to sexually assault a constable. He claimed that such incidents are numerous and highlighted that 1,900 sexual assaults have been reported on women during the Congress’s nine-month rule. Harish Rao criticized the government for being complacent.
Harish Rao accused the Congress of creating fears about Naxalites disrupting peace and security in Telangana. He praised KCR’s 10-year administration for effectively maintaining peace and security in the state. Harish Rao also expressed frustration over the damage to Hyderabad’s brand image and the diminishing prestige of the state. He noted recent discoveries of smuggled weapons in the state, comparing the situation to the illicit arms previously seen in Bihar.
He criticized the discovery of only 200 illegal firearms in Telangana over the past five years and pointed out that four communal riots occurred after the appointment of the new DGP. Harish Rao accused the entire system of being in disarray, alleging that a poorly performing DCP from Medak was given a posting in Hyderabad. He called on the central home ministry to intervene and strengthen the security system. Harish Rao also criticized the Dial 100 emergency service and accused the government of hindering police operations, claiming that questioning the authorities leads to fabricated cases being filed against individuals.
