Hyderabad: GHMC officials recently issued notices to Tirupati Reddy, the brother of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. During coverage of Tirupati Reddy’s residence, which is located within the Full Tank Level (FTL) zone, an RTV female journalist and a video journalist were attacked by Tirupati Reddy’s supporters. The supporters obstructed the journalists, stating that they did not have permission to film the residence and attempted to seize the video journalist’s camera. When the RTV representative questioned the need for permission to take the video of the residence, the journalists were warned to leave. The entire incident was recorded on camera.
Several leaders have condemned the attack on the RTV journalists. BRS leader and former Minister T. Harish Rao denounced the assault, questioning whether such actions represent public administration under the current regime. On Twitter (X), Harish Rao remarked, “Obstructing journalists and attacking the media has become routine under Congress rule. Just days after an attack on two female journalists in the Chief Minister’s native village, Kondareddipalle, another female journalist faced harassment in Hyderabad near Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s brother’s residence. It is disgraceful to claim to uphold public administration while undermining media freedom. We strongly condemn these ongoing attacks on the media.”
