Gandhinagar: Gujarat is set for a major cabinet reshuffle on Friday, with all state ministers submitting their resignations ahead of the exercise. Reports indicate that only 7 to 8 ministers from the current cabinet are expected to retain their positions, while new appointments are likely for the remaining posts. The existing cabinet comprises 16 ministers, but sources suggest that the total number could be increased to 26. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is the only current member expected to continue without change.
The resignation letters of the ministers are scheduled to be submitted to Governor Acharya Devvrat on Thursday night. Ministers who are likely to continue in their positions, however, are reportedly not handing over their resignations. The swearing-in ceremony for the new Gujarat cabinet is planned for Friday at 11:30 AM at Mamata Mandir in Gandhinagar, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J.P. Nadda expected to attend.
A crucial meeting took place on Thursday evening at Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s residence. BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal was present and held personal discussions with Patel. During the meeting, the high command’s decisions regarding the cabinet reshuffle were communicated to the ministers, following which all ministers submitted their resignations.
Party sources have stated that the resignations are part of the BJP’s strategic plan to reconstitute the Gujarat cabinet. The reshuffle aims to expand the cabinet and bring in new members in line with the party’s organizational and governance priorities, strengthening the administration ahead of future political and developmental initiatives.
