Govt Approves Carrying Irumudi on Flights for Sabarimala Pilgrims

The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced that Ayyappa devotees travelling for the Sabarimala pilgrimage will now be permitted to carry the traditional Irumudi on board during air travel. The directive has been issued to ensure ease and convenience for pilgrims during the pilgrimage season.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed the decision in an announcement on X. He stated that the ministry considered the sanctity and emotional significance of the Irumudi before granting approval. He emphasised that the government is committed to safeguarding religious traditions without causing any disruption to customs followed by devotees.

According to the minister, the decision reflects the Centre’s dedication to respecting India’s cultural heritage and ensuring that pilgrims face no obstacles while practising their faith during travel.
