Bollywood icon Dharmendra, aged 89, has passed away. Born on December 8, 1935, he made his acting debut in 1960 with the romantic drama Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. At the age of 19, he married Prakash Kaur in 1954, and the couple had two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, and two daughters, Vijeta and Ajeeta.

In the 1970s, Dharmendra’s on-screen pairing with actress Hema Malini became widely popular, with films like Sharafat, Tum Haseen Main Jawaan, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Sholay showcasing their chemistry. Their professional partnership gradually developed into a personal relationship, making headlines across the country.

Reports suggest that Dharmendra secretly converted to Islam and adopted the name Dilawar Khan to marry Hema Malini in 1980, making her his second wife. The marriage reportedly caused a temporary strain in his first family, particularly affecting his sons, but he continued to fulfill his responsibilities as a father. The couple later resumed observing some Hindu customs amidst public scrutiny. Dharmendra and Hema Malini have two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Throughout his career and personal life, Dharmendra remained a respected figure in Indian cinema. While his first wife, Prakash Kaur, never publicly accused him of wrongdoing, she spoke about the personal challenges she endured. His legacy as an actor, husband, and father continues to be remembered fondly by fans and peers alike.
