Meghalaya police and the Border Security Force (BSF) jointly arrested four Bangladeshi nationals after they allegedly attacked an Indian villager near the international border. The incident took place near the Bangladesh border where the victim, Balsrang E. Marak, who runs a local shop, was targeted.
According to reports, while Marak was asleep, the suspects entered his shop and attempted to kidnap him by restraining his hands and trying to take him across the border. Marak escaped after the attackers fired gunshots at him and sought shelter in a nearby house. He alleged that the group intended to kill him and had attempted to slit his throat.

Acting swiftly on the information, BSF and Meghalaya police launched a joint operation. The suspects attempted to flee towards Bangladesh but were intercepted after two warning shots were fired. Three suspects were apprehended by police, while villagers detained a fourth individual. The group discarded weapons, cash, mobile phones, and Bangladeshi police identity cards during the chase.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mefus Rehman (35), Jangir Alom (25), Merufur Rehman (32), and Sayim Hussain (30). Search operations continue for additional suspects involved in the attack.
