The Andhra Pradesh government has ordered an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) probe into alleged financial irregularities in the Aadudam Andhra sports competitions held during the previous YSRCP regime. The initiative, launched ahead of the general elections, is now under scrutiny following accusations of large-scale misappropriation of funds.
Reports indicate that funds beyond the government’s allocated budget were utilized, with additional resources diverted from district-level allocations. In response to mounting allegations, the coalition government has directed the ACB to investigate the matter. Former Sports Minister Roja, who oversaw the initiative, is now facing legal scrutiny, with speculation that her arrest could be imminent, especially as several key YSRCP leaders have already been taken into custody in recent weeks.
Aadudam Andhra Debate in Assembly
The issue was also raised in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, where Sports Minister Ramprasad Reddy made critical remarks, stating that ₹120 crore was spent within 47 days. He described the expenditure as excessive and unnecessary, expressing embarrassment over the financial handling of the event. Coalition MLAs further alleged mismanagement of funds during the discussion, intensifying the controversy surrounding the initiative.
