Amaravati: A speeding Swift Dzire car met with a fatal accident on the National Highway near Palamaner on Friday morning, claiming one life and injuring several others. The car, reportedly en route from Palamaner to Vellore CMC Hospital, lost control and veered onto a service road, striking two pedestrians walking alongside.
Rajendra Naidu, a resident of Thimmajipalli village, died on the spot, while another victim, Sadarayya—an Assistant Extension Officer in the agriculture department—sustained critical injuries and was shifted to a nearby government hospital. The car was carrying five passengers at the time of the crash; one of them died on the spot while four others, including a child, suffered minor injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest overspeeding as the likely cause. Police have registered a case and are probing whether the incident occurred due to driver negligence or other factors.
