A private tourist bus met with a severe accident in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, when it plunged into a gorge, resulting in the immediate death of eight passengers. Several others sustained serious injuries, and authorities have warned that the death toll may rise. The bus was travelling from Kupvi to Shimla and reportedly carried 30–35 passengers at the time of the incident.
Police reports indicate that the bus lost control while navigating a narrow road in the Haripurdar area, causing it to fall into the gorge. Upon learning of the accident, local residents were the first to respond, providing immediate assistance before emergency teams arrived. Injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals, with some later transferred to specialised medical centres due to the severity of their injuries, confirmed Sirmaur SP Nishchint Singh Negi.

Expressing deep grief over the tragedy, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu directed district authorities to provide full support to the victims. He conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased and assured that all necessary medical care would be made available to those injured in the accident.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash and have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution on the region’s treacherous and narrow hill roads, highlighting the risks associated with travel in hilly terrains.
