New Delhi: Dr. Srinivas Rao has been appointed as the Director of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), becoming the first Telugu individual to hold this esteemed position. Dr. Rao, who currently serves as the Director of the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Born on October 4, 1965, in Anigandlapadu village, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Rao completed his early education at the Zilla Parishad School in his hometown. He earned a B.Sc. in Agriculture from Bapatla Agricultural College and later pursued an M.Sc. and Ph.D. from IARI, New Delhi. He further expanded his academic credentials with post-doctoral research at Tel Aviv University in Israel.
Dr. Rao has held key positions in several prominent agricultural research institutions across India, contributing extensively to advancements in the field. His appointment is a significant milestone and a matter of pride for the Telugu community.
