Washington D.C.: U.S. President Donald Trump and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk were recently seen together at a memorial event for late right-wing leader Charlie Kirk in Glendale, Arizona, marking their first public interaction following previous disagreements.
Following the reunion, Musk has reportedly reached an agreement with the Trump administration to make xAI’s Grok chatbot available to federal agencies at a minimal cost. Under the deal with the General Services Administration (GSA), agencies will be able to access Grok for just 42 cents over the next 18 months. xAI engineers will also assist in implementing the chatbot across government departments.
This marks Musk’s first collaboration with the Trump administration since the two had public disputes earlier, during which they openly criticized each other. Musk stated that he looks forward to working with Trump and his team to accelerate the deployment of Grok AI for national purposes and to mitigate the influence of other AI platforms like ChatGPT and Anthropic. Both xAI and Anthropic have also signed agreements with the U.S. government, providing their services to agencies at a nominal fee of $1.
Musk, who had previously served as a close advisor to Trump and led initiatives such as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), had stepped away from the administration several months ago. The recent public interaction signals a renewed willingness for collaboration between the former president and the tech billionaire.
