In a tragic development in Tamil Nadu, DMK MLA K. Ponnusamy from the Senthamangalam constituency passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 74. Political leaders across the state, including Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, expressed their condolences over his sudden demise, which has left the party in shock.
Ponnusamy reportedly experienced sudden chest pain at his home and was immediately rushed to the government hospital in Kollimalai for initial treatment. He was later referred to a private hospital in Namakkal for advanced care, where doctors confirmed his death.

A prominent face of the DMK in the reserved Senthamangalam constituency for tribal communities, Ponnusamy first won the seat in 2006 with 64,506 votes. He lost in 2011 and 2016 but reclaimed the constituency in 2021 with 90,681 votes. Party officials described his passing as an irreplaceable loss, noting his longstanding contribution and leadership in the region.
