A dispute has arisen between the Central Government and Congress over the funeral arrangements for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Congress has requested the central government to allocate a plot of land in Delhi for a memorial in honor of Singh. However, the Modi administration’s lack of response has led to dissatisfaction within the Congress party.
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that Singh’s last rites will be held at Nigambodh Ghat without prior consultation with Congress. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized that the establishment of a memorial would be the most fitting tribute to the late leader.

The question remains whether the central government will establish a memorial for Singh. Meanwhile, Singh, who had been battling health issues for some time, was rushed to AIIMS in Delhi on Thursday due to severe illness. He passed away later that evening while receiving treatment in the ICU.
The central government has confirmed that Singh’s official funeral will take place on December 28. Tributes have been pouring in from across the nation, with people expressing their condolences via WhatsApp statuses, Instagram stories, and posts on social media platforms. Many are remembering Singh’s contributions, particularly his leadership during the economic crises of 1991 and 2009.
