Bangkok/Naypyidaw: Powerful earthquakes have struck Myanmar and Thailand, causing significant destruction and loss of life. The death toll continues to rise, with reports confirming at least 103 fatalities in Myanmar and four in Thailand, while over 50 people have sustained injuries.
Rescue operations are underway as emergency teams work to save those trapped beneath collapsed structures. In Myanmar’s capital, Naypyidaw, a 1,000-bed hospital has collapsed, raising concerns over further casualties. In Mandalay, an iconic bridge and several temples have suffered extensive damage. In Bangkok, a high-rise building under construction collapsed, with 90 people reported missing, according to Thailand’s Defense Minister.

The 7.7-magnitude earthquake, which struck on Friday, caused severe tremors across Myanmar and Thailand, leading to infrastructure damage and disruptions. Roads have been affected, and several buildings have either collapsed or sustained structural damage.
In response, the Indian Embassy in Thailand has issued a helpline number for Indian nationals in the region. While no distress reports from Indian citizens have been received, the embassy has urged those in need of assistance to contact +66 618819218 for emergencies. Rescue and relief efforts continue as authorities assess the full extent of the devastation.
