The CPI (ML) Pratighatana State Committee has strongly condemned what it termed as the US war of aggression against Venezuela. In a press statement issued on Saturday, State Secretary Anand alleged that the United States carried out large-scale military attacks, including the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. The party claimed that bombings using around 120 jet aircraft in the capital Caracas resulted in the deaths of over 100 civilians, with additional air strikes reported in cities across three states.
According to the statement, the attacks were part of a long-standing plan by US imperialism to overthrow the Maduro government and replace it with a puppet regime. The party alleged that under the pretext of combating drug cartels and terrorism, the US is attempting to occupy Venezuela and control its government. It further claimed that several Latin American countries are opposing US dominance and refusing to follow Washington’s directives.
The CPI (ML) Pratighatana linked the alleged aggression to the global oil market, stating that the US oil industry is facing a crisis due to overproduction and falling profits. Venezuela, which has the world’s largest oil reserves, is a founding member of OPEC and a major oil supplier to China. The party alleged that US corporations are seeking to take control of Venezuela’s oil sector as part of a broader strategy to dominate the international oil market, describing it as a continuation of a long-term “grand plan.”
The statement also said growing competition and contradictions among imperialist powers are leading to aggressive wars worldwide. It accused the US of using wars, as seen earlier in Central Asia and the Middle East, to expand its influence and dominate global markets amid its own economic crisis. Calling for resistance, Anand urged the international working class, along with countries opposing US actions and people of developing nations, to form a united front and wage a collective struggle against US imperialism.
