Hari Hara Veera Mallu, the upcoming film starring Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan, has sparked controversy ahead of its scheduled release on July 24. The film, directed by Krish and Jyothi Krishna and featuring Nidhhi Agerwal in the lead role, is now facing protests over alleged distortion of Telangana folk legend Panduga Sayanna’s legacy.
Members of the Mudiraj community have raised objections, alleging that the film portrays a fictional character resembling Sayanna in a manner that misrepresents his life and undermines the pride of backward communities. They contend that Panduga Sayanna, revered as the “Robin Hood of Telangana” for redistributing wealth from feudal lords to the poor, has been wrongfully depicted through a fabricated narrative.

Protesters have accused the makers of hurting community sentiments and warned of efforts to block the film’s release. At a press conference held at the Hyderabad Press Club, community leaders alleged that the film, produced by Mega Surya Productions, includes unrelated and misleading elements for commercial gain. They called upon Bahujan groups to unite in opposition to the film, stating that the portrayal amounts to an attack on their collective identity and history.
