Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has issued a stern warning to alliance leaders, emphasizing that holding power does not grant the authority to act arbitrarily. He cautioned against politicizing sensitive issues and stressed that only initiatives that directly benefit the public should be prioritized.
Water Management and Project Implementation
During a high-level meeting on water resources and funding held on Thursday, Chandrababu highlighted his tenure as the Chief Minister of the united Andhra Pradesh, stating that he was instrumental in implementing several key projects, including Bheema and Devadula. He reiterated that his government is now working to utilize surplus water that would otherwise flow into the sea.
He underscored the necessity for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to make efficient use of Godavari river waters while acknowledging existing challenges regarding Krishna river allocations. Chandrababu clarified that Andhra Pradesh is utilizing only its rightful share and cautioned against politicizing water-sharing disputes, urging leaders to focus on farmers’ welfare.
Andhra Pradesh’s Role in Chili Production
Andhra Pradesh remains the largest contributor to chili production in India, accounting for 50% of the country’s total output. This year, the state aims to procure 12 lakh metric tonnes, with four lakh metric tonnes already reaching the market. Farmers have cultivated chili across nearly five lakh acres, but declining global demand has resulted in financial distress.
Chandrababu emphasized the government’s responsibility to support affected farmers and confirmed that he has raised the issue with the Union Minister. He stated that multiple letters have been sent to the Centre, and discussions are ongoing. MPs Ram Mohan Naidu, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar Rao, and Krishna Devarayalu are actively following up on the matter. Further clarity is expected following a scheduled meeting with central officials in Delhi.
Upholding Democratic Conduct
Chandrababu also stressed the importance of maintaining democratic values in politics. He warned that violating electoral norms and engaging in unlawful activities would not be tolerated.
