Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu has expressed strong displeasure over the spread of misinformation on social media regarding the state’s free sand policy. The Chief Minister instructed the Chief Secretary of the AP Mines Department to take stringent action against those responsible for damaging the government’s reputation. He emphasized the need to curb the spread of false information that misleads the public and warned that any deliberate attempts to propagate misinformation would not be tolerated.
Recent Update on Sand Policy
In a significant move, CM Chandrababu recently announced the approval for sand excavation in patta lands across Andhra Pradesh, issuing a Government Order (GO) to this effect. The state has also decided to allow sand mining in DKT patta lands. Chief Secretary of the Mines Department, M.K. Meena, issued the necessary regulations for excavation in these areas.
Relief for Home Builders
With the Dasara festival approaching, the AP government has provided good news for those constructing homes. Minister Kollu Ravindra announced that from October 15, sand will be fully available across all sand reaches in the state. He assured that there will be no sand shortages after this date. The minister also clarified that earlier restrictions on sand excavation were in line with directives from the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which had imposed a halt during the rainy season due to flooding risks.
