Authorities identified three primary causes behind the stampede. The first was overcrowding: although the rally was authorized for 10,000 attendees, estimates suggest 30,000 to 60,000 fans and party workers gathered, overwhelming the venue. The second factor was Vijay’s delayed arrival. Initially scheduled for noon, he arrived around 7 PM, leading to restlessness among the waiting crowd, which contributed to the chaotic movement.
The third factor was inadequate crowd management and insufficient security personnel. Authorities noted that the arrangements were insufficient to handle the large gathering, which escalated the situation. The incident has sparked widespread concern among public figures and political leaders, emphasizing the need for strict safety measures and effective crowd control at mass political events.
