Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has refuted reports of a Rs 3,300 crore central aid package for the Telugu states, calling them inaccurate. He clarified that a preliminary flood damage assessment report is still being prepared and will be submitted to the Centre on Saturday morning. Discussions with the Centre about securing assistance for flood victims are ongoing.
Chandrababu conducted an aerial survey of the submerged areas and emphasized that the immediate priority is to address the bunds. He noted that there is no new water inflow from upstream sources and that water levels in the affected regions are gradually receding. Efforts are focused on filling in breaches, with two already covered and the Army assisting in covering a third, expected to be completed by tonight.
Rescue operations are being conducted on a war footing, with 3.12 lakh food packets, 11.5 lakh water bottles, and other essentials such as milk, biscuits, and candles distributed to those in need. Power supply has been restored in all areas except those still inundated, and total electricity connections have been provided to rural areas. Sanitation work is 72 percent complete, supported by 7,100 sanitation workers and approximately 1,300 PDS vehicles. The government will continue its relief efforts over the next three days, and free transportation has been arranged for the victims, according to Chief Minister Chandrababu.
