Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today to discuss the latest developments in the state. Following the meeting, Chandrababu announced that the central government has approved the revised cost estimates for the Polavaram project. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the approval and noted that the central government’s support has been crucial in helping Andhra Pradesh manage its financial pressures.
In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), Chandrababu acknowledged the Prime Minister’s ongoing support for the development of Amaravati, the state’s capital.
Key Railway Projects Discussed
After his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Chandrababu also held discussions with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Chandrababu shared that the Railway Ministry has committed an investment of ₹73,743 crore for the development of the railway sector in Andhra Pradesh. This includes the modernization of 73 railway stations and the expansion of the Howrah-Chennai route into a four-line system.
The Chief Minister also highlighted plans to introduce additional local trains in the state. He further hinted that the foundation stone for the new Visakhapatnam railway zone could be laid by December, expressing optimism about the state’s collaboration with Indian Railways to enhance its logistical and commuter infrastructure.
