The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case against six individuals, including five Income Tax officials, on charges of misuse of authority. The officials are accused of deceiving taxpayers and leaking confidential data to private entities.
Acting on concrete evidence, the CBI arrested Income Tax Inspectors Gul Naj Rauf and Kuthadi Srinivasa, along with Senior Tax Assistants Khumar Alam, Manish, and Javed. A case has also been registered against Chartered Accountant Pulimamidi Bhagat. Searches were conducted at six locations, leading to the seizure of crucial documents related to the investigation.
Income Tax Department Issues Advisory
Following the case, the Income Tax Department has issued an advisory urging taxpayers to exercise caution. The department has warned against fraudulent activities, including fake phone calls and misleading messages on social media, impersonating tax officials. Taxpayers have been advised to verify any communication through official channels to avoid falling victim to scams.
