New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday presented the Union Budget 2026–27 in the Lok Sabha, marking her ninth consecutive Budget. She said the Budget was prepared on three key objectives and emphasised India’s growing integration with global markets. Sitharaman highlighted that the country is reducing dependence on exports, especially in view of high tariffs imposed by the US, India’s largest export partner, reassuring that international trade conflicts would not destabilise the economy.

Sitharaman stated that the Budget reflects the aspirations of the youth under the ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision, while allocating resources and formulating schemes to benefit the poor, marginalised communities, Dalits, and tribal populations. She stressed that inclusive development and economic growth remain at the core of the government’s financial planning.

Prior to the presentation in Parliament, the Finance Minister submitted the Budget documents to President Droupadi Murmu following Cabinet approval. The announcement underscores the government’s commitment to fiscal prudence, strategic reforms, and sustainable development while addressing domestic and global economic challenges.
