In the ongoing liquor scam case, BRS MLC Kavitha encountered another setback. With her CBI custody term ending today, officials presented her in court. After hearing arguments from both the CBI and Kavitha’s lawyers, the bench sided with the CBI.
The CBI argued strongly that if Kavitha were released from jail, she might influence witnesses and destroy crucial evidence gathered so far. They emphasized that further questioning of Kavitha was essential to uncover the truth behind the case and requested an extension of her remand for more time to conduct the investigation.
Agreeing with the CBI’s arguments, the court extended Kavitha’s judicial custody. The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi issued a ruling extending her judicial custody until July 18. It is worth noting that MLC Kavitha was arrested by the CBI on April 1 in connection with this case.
