Cheepurupalli, Vizianagaram: YSR Congress Party MLC and former minister Botsa Satyanarayana collapsed while addressing a public meeting during the party’s statewide protest marking ‘Backstabbers’ Day’ on Tuesday. The incident occurred while he was speaking atop a campaign vehicle in Cheepurupalli, his home constituency.
The protest was organized by the YSRCP to mark one year since the alliance government came to power in Andhra Pradesh. The party, led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has accused the ruling coalition of failing to deliver on its major poll promises, including the “Super Six” guarantees. Protests were held across all constituencies, with leaders demanding immediate implementation of the assurances.
In Cheepurupalli, Botsa and other YSRCP leaders participated in a rally that stretched over 1.5 km in the afternoon heat. Botsa walked alongside party workers before taking the stage to address the crowd. While delivering his speech, he suddenly collapsed.
Party leaders and supporters rushed him to Garividi Hospital. Doctors confirmed that Botsa suffered from dehydration and heat exhaustion, likely due to prolonged exposure to the sun and physical exertion. His condition is currently stable and not a cause for concern, they said. The incident brought momentary panic among YSRCP cadres, who later expressed relief after receiving updates on his recovery.
