The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has taken a historic decision to preserve the sanctity of the famous pilgrimage sites of Badrinath and Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. In a key meeting held on Sunday, the committee unanimously approved a resolution to allow entry only to Hindus in these temples. The resolution also proposes extending the ban on non-Hindu entry to all temples under BKTC jurisdiction, including Gangotri and Mukhba, with the stated aim of protecting the spiritual atmosphere and traditions of Sanatan Dharma.

The resolution is set to be officially implemented after approval in the upcoming board meeting. Once ratified, devotees may be required to show their identity at temple entrances before being allowed inside. The decision comes in response to long-standing requests from devotees and sages to safeguard both the environment and the spiritual ambiance surrounding these Himalayan pilgrimage sites.

BKTC members emphasized that these temples should remain centers of spirituality rather than mere tourist attractions. Analysts suggest that this move could influence entry policies at other temples across Uttarakhand as well, potentially setting a precedent for preserving the sanctity of sacred sites in the region.
