BJP Targets YSRCP’s Parliamentary Presence!

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is reportedly planning a significant political maneuver against the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), which is already grappling with challenges following its loss of power in Andhra Pradesh. Speculations suggest that the BJP-led NDA is strategizing to weaken YSRCP’s presence in the national capital by targeting its representation in both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.

The recent announcement by Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Sai Reddy to step away from politics has added fuel to these speculations. Known for his decades-long association with the YS family, Vijay Sai Reddy declared that he would not join any political party and intends to focus on agriculture. However, political analysts believe this could be part of a larger BJP plan to consolidate its influence in Andhra Pradesh.

Fallout of Amit Shah’s Visit

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to Andhra Pradesh has reportedly altered the state’s political dynamics. Following his visit, reports emerged about key resignations within YSRCP. Vijay Sai Reddy, along with another Rajya Sabha MP, Ayodhya Rami Reddy, is said to be stepping down soon.

YSRCP, which had 11 Rajya Sabha members during the 2019 elections, has seen its strength dwindle to six following a series of resignations. Beeda Mastan Rao, Mopidevi Venkataramana, and R. Krishnayya had previously resigned, and Ayodhya Rami Reddy is expected to follow suit shortly. The party will then be left with six Rajya Sabha MPs: Galla Babu Rao, Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, Meda Raghunath Reddy, Niranjan Reddy, Y.V. Subba Reddy, and Parimal Nathwani.

In the Lok Sabha, YSRCP’s representation includes Avinash Reddy, Gurumurthy, Tanuja Rani, and Mithun Reddy.

Speculations on BJP’s Strategy

Reports suggest that the NDA is executing “Operation Akarsh” to attract remaining YSRCP MPs to resign or align with the BJP. Another possibility being discussed is the merger of YSRCP’s parliamentary wing with the BJP.

This unfolding political scenario raises questions about YSRCP’s future as the party faces a growing exodus of its key leaders. Clarity on these developments is expected in the coming weeks.
