The political atmosphere in West Bengal has intensified with the Bharatiya Janata Party releasing its election manifesto ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls. Union Home Minister Amit Shah formally unveiled the “Sankalp Patra” on Friday, marking the party’s key policy and campaign document for the state elections.

During the release event, Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress government. He said the manifesto is not merely a set of promises but a detailed roadmap aimed at transforming West Bengal and placing it on a new development trajectory.

The Union Home Minister alleged that the 15-year rule under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been a “nightmare” for the people of the state. He further stated that while voters had once ended Communist rule by bringing the TMC to power, the current administration had failed to meet public expectations.

Shah asserted that there is a growing demand for change among the people of West Bengal, adding that the BJP alone can deliver that transformation. He said the party’s vision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of a “Viksit Bharat,” and claimed that the BJP has strengthened its position as a credible opposition in the state over the past decade.

He also expressed confidence that the BJP would both preserve Bengal’s cultural identity and accelerate its development if voted to power. The West Bengal Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases for all 294 constituencies on April 23 and April 29, with counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
