Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a couple allegedly chased down and killed a food delivery boy following a minor road accident in the Puttenahalli area of Bengaluru. The incident occurred on the night of October 25 and has since sparked outrage across the city.
According to police reports, Manoj Kumar and his wife Aarti Sharma were travelling in their car when a food delivery agent, identified as Darshan, accidentally hit their car’s side mirror with his bike. Darshan immediately apologized and left to deliver an order. However, enraged by the incident, Manoj Kumar reportedly turned his vehicle around and pursued the victim for nearly two kilometres before deliberately ramming his car into the two-wheeler from behind.
The collision caused Darshan and his friend to fall onto the road. Darshan died on the spot, while his friend sustained serious injuries. Initially, Darshan’s sister lodged a hit-and-run complaint at the JP Nagar Traffic Police Station. Upon reviewing CCTV footage, investigators discovered that the collision was intentional and not an accident. The video footage also captured the accused couple returning to the scene wearing masks, attempting to retrieve broken parts of their vehicle.
Based on the evidence, South Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police Lokesh Jagalasar confirmed the arrest of Manoj Kumar and Aarti Sharma. Both have been booked under charges of murder and destruction of evidence. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
