In a shocking incident, Baba Siddiqui, a prominent leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) affiliated with Ajit Pawar, was brutally murdered by assailants in Bandra, Mumbai. The murder has sent shockwaves across the country. Siddiqui, a high-profile politician with connections to the Hindi film industry, was shot dead by unidentified individuals on the day of Vijay Dashami.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that two suspects have already been arrested in connection with the murder. Siddiqui was shot six times in the abdomen and chest. Colleagues who witnessed the attack rushed him to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he was declared dead by doctors.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear, leading to numerous questions, including whether anyone orchestrated the hit and who may be behind it. There are also reports that a colleague of Siddiqui sustained injuries during the attack.
Siddiqui was a three-time MLA from the Bandra West constituency and had joined the NCP in March after leaving the Congress party. He previously served as a minister in the Congress-led United NCP government in the early 2000s.
“Two individuals have been arrested, as confirmed by the Mumbai police chief. One is from Uttar Pradesh, and the other is from Haryana. A third assailant is reportedly on the run, and efforts are underway to apprehend him,” Shinde stated.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the hospital to offer condolences to Siddiqui’s family. Ajit Pawar expressed his shock over the incident, noting that the attack occurred while Siddiqui’s son, Jishan, was celebrating with fireworks near his office. The tragic event unfolded between 9:15 and 9:20 PM, when three assailants, wearing masks, emerged from a vehicle and opened fire indiscriminately at Siddiqui as he was enjoying the festivities.
