Yoga guru and Patanjali co-founder Baba Ramdev has launched a sharp criticism against US policies, describing the retaliatory tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump as “tariff terrorism” and a form of economic extremism.
Speaking to the media during the inauguration of the Patanjali Mega Food and Herbal Park in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Ramdev alleged that Trump’s approach threatens and pressures poor and developing nations. “We have seen political and economic colonialism. Now we are witnessing a new phase of intellectual colonialism. Since Donald Trump came to power, he has set new world records in what I call ‘tariff terrorism’. By intimidating and coercing developing and poorer countries, they are undermining democracy,” he said.

Ramdev further accused Trump of disregarding international bodies such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations, while attempting to influence global financial institutions like the World Bank and the IMF to suit American interests. He alleged that a stronger US dollar is being used to suppress the value of other currencies — calling it a form of economic terrorism. In such challenging global conditions, he emphasized the need for India to rise as a powerful, developed nation. He appealed to citizens to unite in strengthening India’s economic capabilities and to promote self-reliance and indigenous industries as the most effective response to global threats.
