An attack on the residence of U.S. Vice President JD Vance in Cincinnati, Ohio, triggered alarm in the early hours of Monday after an unidentified individual vandalised the property, damaging window panes. Police and U.S. Secret Service personnel swiftly responded to the incident and detained a suspect at the scene.
According to officials, the incident occurred shortly after midnight, around 12:15 a.m. local time. Secret Service officers observed a suspicious individual loitering near the Vice President’s residence and attacking the windows. The suspect attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended with the assistance of local police. Authorities are also probing reports that shots may have been fired at the house, though this has not yet been officially confirmed.
Vice President Vance and his family were not present at the residence during the incident. He had returned to Washington, D.C., on Sunday afternoon after a brief vacation, just hours before the attack. Police have not released details about the suspect or the motive, and an investigation is underway involving the Cincinnati Police Department and the FBI. Security around the Vice President’s residence has since been tightened amid growing concerns over the safety of senior U.S. leaders.
