Hyderabad: The recent attack on Rangarajan, the chief priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple, has sparked widespread condemnation across the country. Rangarajan, who is known for his service at the temple, especially in connection with the deity worshiped for visa purposes, has been the subject of public outcry following the assault.

In response to the incident, BRS Working President K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) visited Rangarajan and expressed his concerns regarding the state’s law and order situation. Speaking to the media, KTR described the attack as “an extremely heinous and malicious act” and emphasized that such actions should never be tolerated, regardless of the motive or the group involved.

KTR further highlighted the emotional distress caused by the attack on Rangarajan, noting his long-standing dedication to temple service and the subsequent impact on his family. “If such an incident can occur to someone like Rangarajan, who has dedicated his life to divine service, it raises serious concerns about the safety of common citizens in the state,” KTR remarked.

The BRS leader demanded stringent measures to be taken against those responsible for the attack. “Regardless of the group or affiliations of the perpetrators, they must be arrested and held accountable. The government should ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future,” KTR urged.

KTR also questioned the lack of action taken by the government despite the availability of photographic and video evidence. He was joined by BRS leaders Sabitha Indra Reddy, Srinivas Goud, Kaushik Reddy, Praveen Kumar, and Balk Suman during his visit.

The attack has brought attention to Veera Raghava Reddy, a self-proclaimed heir to the Ikshvaku dynasty, who led the assault on Rangarajan. Raghava Reddy, who has been promoting his own initiative called ‘Ramarajyam,’ visited Chilkur on Friday morning along with his followers. After Rangarajan rejected his proposal for establishing Ramarajyam, Raghava Reddy and his followers attacked him, causing severe eye injuries.

Following a complaint from Rangarajan’s family, the police have registered a case and arrested Veera Raghava Reddy. Authorities are continuing their search for his accomplices.
