Eluru: Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu has announced that the state government will begin disbursing the Annadata Sukhibhava assistance to farmers in three phases. Speaking at Vanguru village in Pedavegi mandal of Eluru district, the minister said that the combined aid from the Centre and State will total Rs 7,000 — with Rs 2,000 under PM Kisan from the Central government and Rs 5,000 from the State government. The first installment will be deposited directly into farmers’ bank accounts on June 21.
The minister criticised the previous YSRCP government, stating that no agricultural equipment was provided to farmers in the past five years. In contrast, the new coalition government has already begun supplying advanced machinery to aid farmers. He also warned farmers to focus on producing quality crops, citing a recent incident where chilli consignments exported from Guntur were returned by Chinese authorities due to high pesticide residues.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government is set to fulfill another major promise under the ‘Super Six’ guarantees. On the first anniversary of the coalition government’s formation, it will roll out the ‘Thalliki Vandhanam’ scheme, aimed at supporting mothers of schoolchildren. Under this initiative, Rs 15,000 will be deposited annually into the bank accounts of mothers for each school-going child from Class 1 to Intermediate first year (Class 11).
A total of Rs 8,745 crore will be transferred today to 67.27 lakh students’ mothers’ accounts. The government is expected to release a G.O. today outlining the operational guidelines of the scheme.
