**Cleaner Arrested for Raping Woman on Bus Traveling from Hyderabad to Vijayawada**
A disturbing incident unfolded on a traveler bus en route from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, where a cleaner allegedly raped a woman passenger. Kukatpally police have arrested the accused, Sai Kumar Reddy, following the victim’s complaint.
According to police reports, the accused assaulted the woman twice during the journey. Sai Kumar Reddy allegedly initiated a conversation with the woman, who was traveling alone to Samarlakota in Andhra Pradesh, and offered her a different seat, claiming the bus was crowded. He then provided her with a water bottle and later forced himself on her, gagging her before raping her.
The accused further threatened the victim with death if she reported the incident and proceeded to assault her a second time. After the bus stopped, the woman contacted the travel company’s owner, Anil Reddy, who accompanied her to the Choutuppal police to file a complaint. A zero FIR was registered and transferred to Kukatpally police.
Kukatpally police, with the assistance of women officers, recorded the victim’s statement and filed the case (No. 1215/2024). Sai Kumar Reddy was arrested on charges of rape and further investigations are underway.
This incident marks the second occurrence of such a crime in recent months. In July, a bus conductor was arrested for raping a woman on a moving bus, with the accused, Krishna, apprehended near Nacharam.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to ensure justice for the victim and enhance the safety of passengers on public transport.
